2026 Life Logs, Day 262: Rally, Farming Falmouth, Dinner with Jonah and Ollie
Date: Saturday, September 19, 2026
Weather: Sunny, Turning Partly Cloudy, Cooler; High Temp 66, Low 51 degrees F
Location: At Home with My Shadow, Falmouth, MA
Yesterday was in the upper 70’s , but today was much cooler. And as I look forward to the forecast for the next nine days, it is going to more of today, not yesterday. Days will be in the mid-60’s and nights in the mid-50’s. Fall comes officially this Tuesday, by I think it arrived today. And when I turned the corner to drive down Lyn Street on my way home from the Farming Falmouth event, I was shocked to see that half of the tree in front of me had turned to autumn colors overnight. I drive down that street toward home every day and this is the first time I have seen those bright orange leaves.

So fall is here. Every day this month I have tried to find time to go to the beach so I can at least say I got in the water one time this summer. But that didn’t happen. I did take Ollie and his friend Seton to the beach one afternoon in July, but I sat on the beach and read and didn’t get in the water. Moving my sister here and getting her settled in at Bridges literally took my whole summer. Things are better now, but even in September, every time I think I have everything under control, something else happens and I am off to Bridges in Mashpee. I am going to look forward to next summer, and when I go to Puerto Rico for Thanksgiving, I am going to make sure I get to the beach there!
This morning I took a long walk with Shadow, went to the Saturday rally for democracy on the Green and then took in the last hour and a half of an all-day Farming Falmouth event. Heather had been there all day and Jed and Ollie came for the last hour. Ollie’s Scout Troop is doing volunteer work with Farming Falmouth and Ollie was on the clean-up crew for the event today. While talking to Heather afterwards, I found out that she and Jed were going to a dinner in Woods Hole tonight, so I volunteered to fix dinner for Jonah and Ollie. Sam was not going to be able to join us as he was working tonight.
That was it for my day. I was looking forward to a day of playing catch-up tomorrow as I have nothing on my calendar. But then tonight, my sister’s blood sugar level rose to the highest level since I have been following. It was dangerously high for a short time but is now going down and will probably continue to do that until morning. Still, I will have to spend part of my day with her tomorrow making sure she is drinking plenty of fluids. If it goes back up again tomorrow evening, I will have to contact her primary care on Monday to figure out what to do. Such is life.
