Day 27, Year 9: There’s a Moon Out Tonight . . .
Date: Saturday, November 16, 2013
Weather: Partly Sunny, High in the Upper 50’s, Low in the Upper 30’s
Location: Brewer Fiddler’s Cove Marina, North Falmouth, Massachusetts
The moon rose tonight just before sunset and it was gorgeous here. Hope you got a glimpse of it as well. It will be full sometime between tonight and tomorrow night. It looked full tonight, but if it is clear, we will get to enjoy its fullness again tomorrow night.
We started the day by meeting Heather, Jed, and boys at Falmouth High School where Sam was supposed to run in an elementary track meet. But he got cold feet at the last minute and just didn’t want to run. So we played outside the school for a bit before parting ways. We headed into town to do some shopping and returned to Windbird in the early afternoon. Mark launched into a couple of boat projects. He took the blades off the wind generator to store them for the winter, pulled the anchor chain out onto the dock to put the depth markers on it, and then washed down the deck. We are battling the birds once again. We love to watch them, but we hate it when they roost on the top of our mast as they leave their ‘markings’ everywhere. Once we have the plastic cover on for the winter it won’t be such a problem, but for now, we just have to spray down every couple of days. While Mark worked outside, I fixed lunch, did a little cleaning, insulated the anchor locker doors and a couple of hatches, and started gathering things that we will need to move to the Woodin’s for the next three weeks. Tomorrow our good friends Tom and Detta Porat come to visit. Mark will start his day by going over to feed Mr. Sigmund Freud, more affectionately called Siggy, and I will finish packing up the things we need to take with us. We will then enjoy the afternoon with Tom and Detta before making the big move.
