Day 112, Year 9: For the Birds
Date: Sunday, February 9, 2014
Weather: Mostly Overcast, Snow Flurries Early
Location: Brewer Fiddler’s Cove Marina, North Falmouth, Massachusetts

Today was one of those days when you feel like you got little done and the time simply flew away. So I’ll say it was ‘for the birds’ because the only thing of import that happened was a bird sighting. Late in the afternoon we went to Heather and Jed’s so Mark could hem a pair of pants for me on Heather’s sewing machine. Our SailRite seemed a bit of overkill for the job. When we got home, we startled two ducks from under the dock. One flew away and the other swam quickly away. I got a photo from a distance, but I’m not sure what I saw. I thought it was a Bufflehead which I have seen very few of this winter. But when I look at the photos, it looks more like a Merganser. I’m hoping my bird watching friends can help identify the mystery bird.

I’m hoping to complete the project I have been working on tomorrow and be ready for take-off by mid-afternoon. We will drive to Boston, have dinner, and stay in a hotel where we can leave the van while we are gone. The hotel shuttle will take us to the airport early on Tuesday morning, and if the weather cooperates, we’ll be in Puerto Rico by 2:30 pm on Tuesday. We can’t wait to see Justin, Jo, Ziggy, and Coco and dig our toes into warm, white sand. Yum!!!
