Day 82, Year 8: More of the Same
Date: Thursday, January 24, 2013
Weather: Still Sunny and Cool-Temp in the 20’s F Overnight
Location: Lightkeepers Marina in Coquina Harbor, Little River, SC
More of the same–cold nights, cool days, lots of sunshine, Judy still working on Year 1 photos and various and sundry other Travel Log projects, Mark still working on his search for a public radio station manager. That’s about it for us today. Tonight could be the last really cold night with temps going back into the 30’s for the next few nights. One report calls for 28 degrees F on Saturday, but other sources say it will be in the 30’s. Heather called this morning to tell us it was 9 degrees F with a windchill making it feel below zero. She had both Oliver and Jonah today and Jonah desperately needed to go outside for a run, but it was just too cold. So I am thankful for the weather we have here even though it has been on the cool side. We have only needed to wear a fleece and even that is too hot in the middle of the day. The cold nights have killed the blossoms on the trees, so they are going to have to regroup and come back again in a month or so, but other than that we have no complaints.
Mark is going to fill in for my sister tomorrow. It is Patsy and Joe’s turn to deliver Meals on Wheels, but Patsy and I are going to pull out all the old family photos and spend the day organizing and scanning those into a computer. Sure hope Mark and Joe get those meals delivered. Patsy and I have to make a run to Costco early in the morning, but we should be home before noon and have the afternoon to attack those photos.
Justin, Jo, Ziggy, and Coco flew to Puerto Rico today to join Jo’s parents from England for a warm, sunny vacation on the island of Culebra. We haven’t heard from them yet, but we hope they had a decent trip. Traveling with a baby and three year-old can be a toss-up. You never quite know how things are going to go. But hopefully the respite from sub-zero weather they have been having in New Mexico and getting to spend time with Jo’s parents will make the trip worth it.
