Day 73, Year 8: Searching

This was a day of searching. I was searching for birthday presents for Sam (our oldest grandchild who will celebrate his 6th birthday on Saturday), Mark started his searching for a public radio station manager, and we are both searching for a vehicle of some sorts. My searches took me online and to the local outlet mall. Mark’s searches took him online and on the phone. So that is how we spent this lovely day. The weather is incredibly warm but today the skies were mostly cloudy. If it had been one of those bright blue sky days I think we would have had trouble sitting inside all day, but the clouds made it seem okay. In the late afternoon, Mark and I went out searching the local used car lots for a possible vehicle, and in between all of this, I continued my search for perfection by painstakingly resaving each log of Year 2. I have this need to have all of my travel logs in the same format before I start writing about our adventures. This evening I had Mark watch the process I was using and he was able to show me a couple of short-cuts which are making the work much faster. It’s a good thing because I was losing patience.
Tomorrow we are taking a break and going to Wilmington-North Carolina, not Delaware. When I was talking to our son Justin this weekend, he asked why we were making so many trips to Wilmington. When Justin was young, we lived on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and often drove through Wilmington, Delaware, so that is what he thinks of when I just say Wilmington. But no, we are not that crazy. We are not driving 550 miles. We are just traveling about 50 miles up the highway to Wilmington, North Carolina. I have an appointment with Customs tomorrow at 11 am to complete the requirements for our Small Vessel permit. This is the permit that allows us to leave the country in Windbird and to return by simply making a phone call to the closest Customs Office. I hope the process of leaving and re-entering the country is easier than the application for the permit.
