Day 68, Year 8: Walking in Circles
Date: Thursday, January 10, 2013
Weather: Mostly Sunny; Warm and Windy
Location: Lightkeepers Marina in Coquina Harbor, Little River, SC

It was one of those days when you feel like all you have done is walk in circles. We were busy all day, accomplished little, but had fun doing it. We went to Wilmington with Patsy and Joe. Both of their grandchildren just started classes at the Cape Fear Community College there this week and both are maintaining their own apartment. It is the first time either of them has lived away from home, so with Grandma and Grandpa living so close by, they call on them for favors. Mark and I went along to go to our appointment at the US Customs Office at the Wilmington airport. We thought we were going to register Windbird so that when we leave or re-enter the country all we have to do is call Customs. This is called the Small Vessel Reporting System. But when we got there we found out that it is us that must register and each of us needed to make separate appointments. Mark made the appointment, so they took his photo and fingerprints. But I now have to fill out the application online and make an appointment to return and do the same. So that job didn’t get done. From the time we arrived in Wilmington we were juggling tasks to be done with Jessica and Jacob’s different class schedules and additional tasks that were added as the day progressed. Not everything got done, so a return trip will be necessary. It was six o’clock by the time we left Wilmington, so we decided to stop at a favorite Mexican restaurant on the way home.

Tomorrow looks like a great day to go for a sail, but Mark is determined to get the watermaker reinstalled tomorrow and I am going to write. I have promised myself that I am going to start spending four hours each week day writing. In the beginning those four hours will be spent organizing information, but soon I should be able to produce something tangible. If I want a weekday free, then I’ll write on one of the weekend days. I’ve promised this before, so it will be interesting to see if I can stick to it.
