Day 66, Year 8: From Cape Cod to South Carolina
Date: Tuesday, January 8, 2013
Weather: Partly Sunny with High Temp in the Lower 60’s F
Location: Lightkeepers Marina in Coquina Harbor, Little River, SC
The weather stepped up to meet us this afternoon with sunshine and warmth. Flying from snow country to sunshine and palm trees always warms one heart as well as body. We had a wonderful visit in Massachusetts, but it is always good to be back home. For us, home is where the boat is located. So sometimes home is on Cape Cod, but right now it is in South Carolina.
Jed, Sam, and Jonah all got up very early this morning to drive us to the bus station. We said our goodbyes to Heather and Oliver last night and implored them to sleep in this morning. Oliver is teething something fierce and is nursing off and on all night. So Heather needs all the rest she can get. Sam and Jonah were so cute this morning. They were up and out the door by 6:45 am and they reassured us that they just LOVE getting up early. It was very special to have them accompany us to the bus station to say our goodbyes. There were lots of waves, hugs, and kisses. When we reached Myrtle Beach, our good friend Lee Kaufman met us at the airport. There were no hugs or kisses, but we were sure glad to see Lee and so appreciate that he offered to come get us. On the way to the marina, we picked up his wife Lynda, and after dropping off our bags and checking to make sure all was well with Windbird, they took us to my sister’s house. Mark and I stayed there for dinner and caught up on happenings since we left. We are now back on Windbird and tired after a long day. Both of us seem to be trying to get a cold, so it’s time to turn in. Sam and Jonah might LOVE getting up early, but Oma and Granddad are not so fond of that anymore.
