Day 40, Year 8: Different Directions for the Day
Date: Thursday, December 13, 2012
Weather: Rain Overnight, Overcast Then Clearing in PM, Cool
Location: Lightkeeper’s Marina in Coquina Harbor, Little River, SC
Mark and I went in different directions today. Mark went with Lee on his
sailboat LeeWay to Barefoot Landing for a Power Squadron Luncheon. Barefoot
Landing is a big shopping area with lots of restaurants right on the
Intracoastal Waterway. It felt cold and damp, but Lee’s boat has a total
cockpit enclosure like ours, so they kept warm. I stayed on Windbird and
looked through photos of the Voyage of Windbird in order to organize a
little presentation for Joe’s sister Judy tonight. Then I went shopping
AGAIN. This time it was shopping for me. There were some things that I
have needed for a very long time and just never take the time to buy. So
today was the day. Mark and I both got back home about the same time and
then Patsy, Joe, and Joe’s sister Judy came over to see the boat. Judy
reads our logs from time to time and was interested in seeing this floating
home of ours. Then we all went to Patsy and Joe’s for dinner. Patsy made
her famous lasagna, which is always delicious, and after dinner Mark and I
shared photos of the Voyage of Windbird. It was a nice reminder of the many
wonderful things we encountered as we traveled around the world and a loud
reminder to me that I need to take time to write about those experiences.
