Day 28, Year 8: Day Sail on LeeWay
Date: Saturday, December 1, 2012
Weather: Mostly Sunny and Warm, No Wind
Location: Lightkeeper’s Marina in Coquina Harbor, Little River, SC

Today the sun was shining, the sky was blue, and it was warm. The only
problem with going out for a day sail with our friend Lee on his sailboat
LeeWay was that there was no wind. But we didn’t let that get in the way of
having a delightful day. We left Lightkeeper’s Marina in Coquina Harbor and
headed the five miles or so down the Intracoastal to the Little River Inlet.
It’s so nice to be on someone else’s boat. I was able to sit back and just
soak in the scenery. Once we got out in the ocean, it became evident that
we weren’t going to get to sail, but we just messed about letting the sails
and current carry us along. At one point the wind got up to 4 knots and we
got really excited. But that burst of wind didn’t last long and we were
back to floating about. It was so warm today that I had to take off my
shoes and socks. I’ve never really believed that you should sail where it
is too cold to go barefooted . . . even in December I love barefoot sailing.

Once we returned to the marina, Lynda joined us for dinner aboard Windbird.
It was the perfect way to end a delightful day. Tomorrow we will get back
to Christmas shopping mode. Right now we are sitting in the main cabin
listening to some of our favorite holiday CD’s. Peaceful.
