Day 210, Year 8: Garden ‘til You Drop
Date: Saturday, June 1, 2013
Weather: Another Beautiful Day, High Mid-60’s F
Location: Eel Pond, Woods Hole, Massachusetts

Either I am getting very old or gardening is much harder work than I remember. Obviously, I am getting older, but I don’t think that is the problem in this case. I think it is memory. It is easy to forget just how hard or how long certain tasks take. So my memory had a bit of a jog today and I got done only about half of what I had hoped to do. So I will continue in the morning and hopefully get everything planted before Heather and Jed get home tomorrow. At least that’s the plan.

The weather continues to be lovely here. It was well above 75 degrees F in East Falmouth today, and with not a cloud in the sky, it felt even warmer. It was a good ten degrees cooler in Woods Hole, but that is normal. I picked Mark up from work at 4:30 this afternoon and when we got back to Woods Hole we saw that Steve and Irene of Star are back in Eel Pond. They spend their winters at their home in Nevis in the Caribbean and then sail back here in the late spring. A number of other Eel Pond ‘regulars’ showed up yesterday, so I guess June 1 is the beginning of the season here.
