Day 133, Year 8: Warm Weather
Date: Saturday March 16, 2013
Weather: Beautiful Day; Warmer Than Yesterday but Still Windy
Location: Lightkeepers Marina in Coquina Harbor, Little River, SC

Warm weather changes everything here, but the biggest change is in the number of cars on the highway. The traffic has quadrupled since mid-week. The 115 golf courses in the area are all jam-packed and the yellow pine pollen is covering everything. I guess this means spring has come to Myrtle Beach.

I woke up motivated to write this morning and actually got most of an introduction written for that book that I keep saying I am going to write about sailing around the world. Before I finished, however, I heard a thud on the deck and stopped to check it out. Mark had taken the mail sail down to do the sewing repairs on the mainsail cover, so that task redirected things. Mark actually got the sail cover repairs done and now we just need to figure out how to get it all back in place. I also started an embroidery project and tonight we went to visit with my nephew who is visiting with a group of business colleagues. So it was a busy day here. We will return to Charleston tomorrow morning to visit with Patsy and stay the night tomorrow night. She is feeling good and we are hopeful that she will be released to come home on Monday morning. But she is still nauseous and not able to eat much, so we will see how that plays out tomorrow.

We missed the St. Patrick’s Day Parade today. The Sail & Power Squadron decorated Brian and Judy Thompson’s boat to be in the parade and we had hoped to be able to participate, but there is just too much going on right now. Our friend Lynda Kaufman was working with another woman to coordinate the event, so we’ll be anxious to hear from Lynda as to how things went. We are firm believers in the luck of the Irish and hope St. Pat didn’t take our absence personally!
