Day 132, Year 8: Back Home in Little River
Date: Friday March 15, 2013
Weather: Beautiful Day, Still Windy but Much Warmer
Location: Lightkeepers Marina in Coquina Harbor, Little River, SC
The report on my sister Patsy is that post-surgery things are going great. She was up and about a bit today and was much more alert than we expected. She has a history of being really groggy for a couple of days after being anesthetized, but that didn’t hold true this time. If things continue to go as well, she could come home as early as Sunday, but probably not until Monday. The doctor will assess things each morning, so we’ll know more tomorrow than we do now. Her surgeon, Dr. Kohler, is on call this weekend, so he will be around to make assessments himself rather than relying on others. I’ll keep you posted on her progress. Mark and I came home this evening, but will probably return on Sunday morning if she is not coming home that day. Her daughter Jennifer is still with her until tomorrow and, of course, Joe will be there for the duration.
I have a nephew who is visiting in North Myrtle Beach this weekend and we hope to see him tomorrow. This is my late brother’s oldest son, Tommy. He is here on business for the weekend so none of his family is here with him. He lives only 3-4 hours away near Charlotte, but we haven’t seen him since Thanksgiving. So by coming home tonight, we hope to have a good visit with him before returning to Charleston. We saw lots of things in Charleston and historic places between here and there that we would love to explore, so maybe we will get to do one or two of those things when (if) we return on Sunday. We were only gone one night, but it always feel good to return home to your own bed. So I think I’ll go there now!
