Day 127, Year 8: Sailing on Lee Way
Date: Sunday March 10, 2013
Weather: Beautiful Day, Temp in the High 50’s F
Location: Lightkeepers Marina in Coquina Harbor, Little River, SC

Whatever we were going to do today, we didn’t do it. Instead we took the impromptu invitation of Lee Kaufman to go sailing on Lee Way. Lee’s son Josh is here visiting with his friend Kristie and the four of us went out. There was just enough wind to keep us sailing at 5 knots in calm seas with a blue sky. Beautiful. The water temperature is still just above 50 degrees F, so with the wind blowing over the cool water, sitting on the front of the boat was chilly. But sitting in the enclosed cockpit was cozy. Josh pointed out that this was only second time he has ever been on a sailboat with the first time was back in the early 1980’s when we (the Kaufmans and the Handleys with our children) went to Florida for Christmas and chartered a sailboat out of Sanibel. Today’s sail was much calmer, so hopefully Josh will give it a go again before 30 more years pass by.

After a day of sailing, Linda joined us and we all went to Asian Fusion for an early dinner of sushi (at least for me) for the second time this week. This little restaurant is in a strip mall in Longs, South Carolina, and is not where you would expect to find great sushi. But it is really good. We ended the day back at the Kaufman’s sharing stories from the past. It was a good day and evening.
