Day 124, Year 8: Shopping and Then Shopping
Date: Thursday March 7, 2013
Weather: Warming Up, Bright Sunshine
Location: Lightkeepers Marina in Coquina Harbor, Little River, SC
What a way to waste a beautiful day. Mark really needed to go the place where he had his new glasses made in January to have them adjusted. He had them made at Lens Crafters and it happens to be in the mall in Myrtle Beach, thus the shopping. We really just went looking. Mark wanted to check out some items at Best Buy and Office Depot and I needed to do the same at Bed, Bath, and Beyond before buying the items on Amazon. Sometimes it helps to see the real thing before purchasing online, but when possible, I really prefer ordering online to shopping in person. We stopped to have lunch at a place called McAllister’s. Patsy and Joe had a coupon that we could use and get two lunches for the price of one. That was a good deal and the food was good, too. We then went to Green’s Discount Liquor Store in downtown Myrtle Beach that has the best prices around and on to the outlet mall on the way home. I needed a couple of things for grandchildren. Oliver’s birthday is coming up soon and then there are the ‘big brother’ birthday gifts. And not long after Oliver turns one, Ziggy will have his fourth birthday. There were a few more stops and the day was over. We drove by Linda and Lee Kaufman’s to drop off a purchase we made for them at Green’s and by the time we got home it was almost dark.
Tomorrow Patsy and Mark are cooking a birthday dinner for Joe and me. We already celebrated our birthdays, but we’re going to do it one more time. Joe and I got to add our favorite things to the menu and some of them are going to cause Patsy and Mark to be cooking a bit of the day. Joe and I decided we wanted one of my mom’s famous German chocolate cakes. They are ‘famous’ in the family because it always took her all day to make one. There is coconut in the icing and she always got a coconut, cracked it open, and grated the coconut fresh. We’re not doing that! She also made such a mess in the kitchen that it took hours to clean things up. It will be interesting to see how Patsy and Mark do in terms of time and mess. I’ll be sure to take photos.
