Day 122, Year 8: Another Year
Date: Tuesday March 5, 2013
Weather: Mostly Cloudy, Temp in the Lower 60’s, Windy
Location: Lightkeepers Marina in Coquina Harbor, Little River, SC

Another year in the life has come and gone and I must say that we are in a much better place this birthday than last. On March 5, 2012, Mark had his second chemo treatment and I received my Medicare Card in the mail. As I said in last night’s log, “Old age ain’t for sissies.” Actually last night I slightly misquoted Bette Davis by scrambling the words of her quote and substituting ‘isn’t’for ‘aint’, but you get the idea. But for all the negative last year, the wonderful thing that did happen is that my nephew Todd’s fifth child, Easton Lee, was born on my birthday. So happy first birthday to Easton.

This year’s birthday was low key. We went to Patsy and Joe’s to say goodbye to Lou and Al and to deliver Joe’s belated birthday present from us—a second bluebird house. We then came back to the boat and spent a quiet afternoon. Late in the afternoon, we returned to Patsy and Joe’s and went out to dinner with them and their granddaughter Jessica and two of her friends who all came down from Wilmington for the evening. We went to a restaurant named Asian Fusion that serves Japanese, Chinese, and Thai. Tonight, Mark and I had sushi and it was wonderful. We are now back home on Windbird and are prepared for a rainy night. We are getting our share of winter storm Saturn. It will turn cooler and get windier, but at least we won’t have snow.
