Day 114, Year 8: Dreary Monday
Date: Monday, February 25, 2013
Weather: Overcast and Cold (High in the 40’s), Rain Tonight
Location: Lightkeepers Marina in Coquina Harbor, Little River, SC
I think winter has finally come to South Carolina, at least for the next week or so. We’ve had mostly cool weather since we returned from Florida and the long range weather forecast shows even cool weather coming our way. If the forecast bears true, we’ll have nights in the 20’s next week. We’ve had that a few times, but when we returned home from Florida we was ready for spring and it is just not here. The warm weather there spoiled us, but we must be patient. We’re supposed to have rain through tomorrow night and then it looks like we should have party sunny days with no rain for a few days. Mark is planning to take advantage of the ‘no rain’ to continue our teak deck renovation project. We got the deck re-caulked last spring and now we need to take out all 650+ screws and put in new ones that are a tad longer. Taking out the screws also means taking out all of the wooden pegs that cover the screws, so new pegs will also have to go in. We last did this in 2003 so we know what a job it is. We’ll just have to attack it one screw at a time.
Since the forecast for tomorrow is for rain and more rain, we are going to go to the movies. Last night in my log I said we had seen two of the films nominated for the Best Picture award, but actually we have seen three—Lincoln, Zero Dark Thirty, and Silver Linings Playbook. And we whole-heartedly agreed with the Academy awards for Best Actor and Best Actress. We found out today that Les Miserables and Argo are both back at a theater in Myrtle Beach, so tomorrow we are going to see Les Miserables. Then on Wednesday we are going to see Argo. We put off going to see these when they were in Myrtle Beach earlier and they were gone by the time we got around to going. We’re not going to let that happen again. Patsy and Joe have already seen Argo, but they have not seen Les Mis and will go with us tomorrow. Maybe seeing someone else’s misery will help us to forget about the miserable weather.
