Working on the computer, Skyping on the computer, and setting up a new computer-that is what filled our day today. Mark and I have both been on computers all day except when we took time out for a walk in the late afternoon. We started by having a video Skype call with Heather, Jed, and boys. Oliver was asleep when we called but woke up soon and made his way to the computer. He would look at the screen and smile and then touch my face on the screen and then granddad’s face. It was very cute. Sam and Jonah shared their new toys that they bought at Walmart with the money we sent them to put in the billfolds we bought them for Sam’s birthday. They were getting ready to go ice skating down in the cranberry bogs. Last winter we never had ice in the bogs, but with the really cold weather this past week, the bogs are frozen over. After the call, Mark and I worked together for hours on Mark’s 70th birthday book. Justin and I have worked on this, but we needed Mark’s input on some things, so he is now helping. The content of the book was revealed to him months ago, but frankly, I need his technical expertise as well as his artistic input to complete the job. We are having fun working on this together.

My sister Patsy called this afternoon to tell us that a package for us was delivered to her house late last night. We have been waiting for the new computer we ordered to arrive and we assumed this was it, except that the package had a company name on it that none of us recognized. So we stopped our work on Mark’s book and headed over to Patsy and Joe’s. We had ordered the computer through Amazon but it was from an outside seller-not the name on the box, but the outside seller must have had another outside seller, or something like that. Anyway, we were both very excited at the sight of the new arrival. After taking a long walk in Patsy and Joe’s neighborhood, Mark launched into getting the new ‘little’ Toshiba up and running. This new computer is for me and I wanted a 14″ computer rather than the larger 15″ we currently have. But other than size, they look identical. So we now have ‘big computer’ and ‘little computer.’ Joe worked on his computer getting into Ancestry.com and after dinner, I started documenting family history on the old computer by getting Patsy to talk about her childhood. And now I am home and writing this log on a computer. Enough for today. It’s time to have one more look at the beautiful full moon and curl up with a good book.
