Day 274, Year 8: Road Trip to New Hampshire

Location: Pickering Point on Great Bay, Greenland, New Hampshire
Our first stop today was in Concord to work in our storage unit there. Now that we have made the decision to move things to the Cape to a smaller unit, it is time to reduce and recycle. We made some progress and will return on Tuesday on our way back to the Cape to take as much with us as we can. Then in the next week or so, we will return with a U-Haul truck to do the final move. Progress is being made.
From Concord, it takes almost an hour to drive eastward to Portsmouth on the coast. Greenland is a small community on the outskirts of Portsmouth and this is where two of my best friends from my teaching days now live. We came to visit with Tom and Detta’s son, Matthew, who just had his gall bladder removed on Friday. He is slowly but surely feeling better and it was great to get to talk with him. I brought him a picture he drew of me when he was in my first grade class back in 1998 and he got a kick out of seeing that. We are staying with Sue and David Wolowitz who live on a point of land just across from Detta and Tom. We all had dinner together at Detta and Tom’s . The food and the company were both great. Sue had her first grandchild four months ago and her home is filled with reminders of Camellia. There is now a crib in the room where we stay and it is filled with gifts for Camellia who comes to visit next Saturday. The joys of being a grandparent!
Tomorrow morning we will visit some more and then Mark and I will drive up to Kennebunkport for our visit with my sister-in-law Sue and her husband Brad.
