NZ Land Logs 47, Year 2: Good Friday
Date: Friday, April 6, 2007
Weather Today: Sunny Day
Location: Whangarei, New Zealand

It was indeed a Good Friday. The sun was shining which was perfect for the work we had to do this morning. Yesterday we cleaned the topsides and today we cleaned the deck and cockpit. The warmth of the sun made getting wet much more enjoyable. We wanted to get all of the cleaning done before we start sanding and painting the waterline and waxing the top sides. We had just enough time to get this done before heading out with Tom and Bette Lee of Quantum leap for a ride out to Whangarei Heads. Whangarei is about thirteen miles up a river, so when you drive to out to the mouth of the river you find yourself at the ocean’s edge. Bream Head is a rocky outcropping and the white sand beach at the end of the road is beautiful. It has great surfing waves and lots of young people were out today trying to catch the perfect wave. When we returned to Whangarei we went out for dinner at the Indian restaurant in town, Shiraz. It was a good day and a busy week. Tomorrow the hard work begins, so it is definitely time to turn in and get a good night’s rest.
