Day 72, Year 10: Happy Solstice
Date: Sunday, December 21, 2014
Weather: No Change–Beautiful, Sunny Day, Temp in the 80’s F
Location: Visiting with Justin, Jo, Ziggy, and Coco in Aguada, PR
We certainly had a ‘Happy Solstice Day’ and hope that you did as well. We went to the Farmer’s Market on the plaza in Rincon this morning, did some serious food shopping for the next few days, returned home for an early Christmas present opening for Ziggy and Coco, ate lunch, had naps (everyone but Ziggy, Coco, and me), went to a wonderful Solstice celebration on the beach in Rincon with some friends of Justin and Jo’s, and returned home to find gifts that the Solstice fairies had left for us. It was quite a magical day. Justin and Jo gave Ziggy and Coco their big Christmas presents from mummy and daddy today so that they will have time to enjoy them before heading to England on Friday. Ziggy got a remote-controlled robot that can walk, talk, and pick up things. Coco got a Plan Toy ‘green’ doll house, complete with solar panels, wind generator, and recycling bins. Both kids loved their presents and spent time playing while Justin and Jo got lunch ready. We ate and then Justin, Jo, and Mark took short naps while Ziggy, Coco, and I continued to play. We had time for a short Skype call with Heather before we left for a Solstice celebration on at Step Beach in Rincon. The big boys were out food shopping with Jed and Ollie was asleep, so we’ll hope to have a Skype video call with them on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. But it was great to catch up with what is going on in their lives through Heather. Then it was off for the Solstice celebration. A couple named Ben and Missy hosted the celebration and had a delicious jambalaya. Other people brought side dishes, so we had a feast. In addition, Ben and Missy had champagne for everyone and a great gluten-free yule log. They had hollowed-out upright logs filled with fire, a small bonfire, sparkler, and a Solstice program where we all rid ourselves of the bad from the past and ushered in the new and good for the coming year. It was great to meet some of Justin and Jo’s friends and a couple of the little girls in Coco’s play group. And when we returned home, we found that the Solstice fairies has visited us here leaving flashing dragonfly lights in the trees and flying fairies for Ziggy and Coco. The fairies also left bamboo fencing for Jo that can be up on the inside of the chain-link fence that surrounds the property, allowing for more privacy. And just when Mark and I thought the evening was winding down, Justin, Jo, Ziggy, and Coco went across the street to a vacant lot where six abandoned puppies had been left earlier in the day. Justin and Jo just couldn’t stand the thought of the puppies being left out for night, so we now have puppies once again. Hopefully we can find home for these little guys before Christmas Day. Evidently people here just abandon puppies. Lucky for the puppies that Justin and Jo just can’t let that happen.
