Day 68, Year 10: Dinner at The Pool Bar
Date: Wednesday, December 17, 2014
Weather: Beautiful Day, Highs in the 80’s, Low’s in the 70’s F
Location: Visiting with Justin, Jo, Ziggy, and Coco in Aguada, PR
Dinner Justin and Jo treated us to dinner at The Pool Bar in Rincon and we felt like we had been transported to southern California. Rincon is Puerto Rico’s mecca for surfers and with the surfers came the culture change. It’s not a bad thing, just different from the rest of Puerto Rico that we have experienced. The Pool Bar’s specialty is sushi . . . a swimming pool . . . and a 20-foot high movie screen showing surfing videos. It is in a lovely setting and the sushi was delicious with much of the fish being caught today—black fin tuna, wahoo, and rainbow runner. But the big plus for families with children is that they can swim while you wait for your food. The pool is not heated and the water felt really cold to Justin, but Ziggy and Coco didn’t mind. They had a ball and then came to the table to gobble down the sushi. It was a great evening and we thank Justin and Jo for this special treat.
Justin is still is super work mode for a couple of more days. He has been holed up in his second-floor office for days, so today he hitched a ride to town with Jo and worked in a café on the town square. We walked the 1.7 miles into town and had lunch with Justin and then walked back home. Much of the walk is along the ocean and the views are spectacular. Once we returned home, Jo arrived with Coco. They left early this morning to take Ziggy to school and then to go on to Coco’s ‘millas’. The name of Ziggy’s school is Semillas and Coco has shortened that and made it her word for school. She so much wants to do what Ziggy does, so that’s what she calls her Wednesday morning play group. Jo brought her home for us to keep while she, Justin, and Ziggy attended a meeting at Ziggy’s school. Coco and I played while Mark took a nap and then built a super Brio train track with Coco. We really enjoyed our afternoon with Coco and look forward to tomorrow when both Coco and Ziggy will be at home.
