Day 65, Year 10: Puerto Rico, Here We Come
Date: Sunday, December 14, 2014
Weather: No Change–Mostly Sunny; High in the 50’s F, Low in the 30’s
Location: R Dock, Lightkeepers Marina, Little River, SC

Ready or not, Puerto Rico, here we come! We spent our day checking jobs off the To Do list. Mark had to go to the Cancer Center for a 9 am blood test. Due to our Christmas travels, it will be three weeks between treatments instead of two and they wanted a last minute blood test just to make sure all is well. And it is. With that checked off our list, we headed to Patsy and Joe’s to start a load of laundry—got have clean sheets on the bed while you are gone. We made a stop at CVS to pick up a prescription for Mark and buy some last minute things we need for the trip. Back on Windbird, I washed down the cockpit and deck. Got to have a clean boat while you are gone. Then it was back to Patsy and Joe’s to finish the laundry, make one last batch of granola for the sail south, pack up our many boxes of photographs that Patsy has been keeping for us, and I finished a job I started weeks ago. When we first got here and were cleaning and painting the back deck, I didn’t get to finish cleaning the outside white trim around the sunroom windows. So I snuck that in as well. It was a successful day and while doing all of this, we enjoyed the company of Patsy and Joe’s granddaughter Jessica and two of her friends, both named Katie.

Patsy and I fixed dinner for all and now Mark and I are back on Windbird doing the last little jobs. Lee will be here to pick us up at 6:30 am, and then off we go. The next log will come to you from Aguada, Puerto Rico. The temperature there right now is 74 degrees F. Cape Cod has been having 40 degree days and nights in the 30’s. Here in Myrtle Beach we have been having 50 degree days and nights in the 30’s. Aguada has been having 80 degree days and nights in the 70’s. I think we are making progress!
