Day 53, Year 10: Time for Another Scan
Date: Tuesday, December 2, 2014
Weather: Partly Sunny with Scattered Showers, High near 70 degrees F
Location: R Dock, Lightkeepers Marina, Little River, SC
Last Tuesday Mark had the final infusion of the first round of his new cancer treatment and today it was time for another scan. The CT scans help to determine if the treatments are effective. We will find out the results next Tuesday, December 9, and Mark will either continue with this particular treatment or be changed to another if the panatumumab has not stopped or slowed down the growth of the cancer cells. It is so hard to wait to find out the results, but I’m told that patience is a virtue. So I’ll try to busy myself with other things and wait patiently for next Tuesday. Tomorrow one of us has to go back to the cancer center to get a CD of today’s scan and send that to Mark’s oncologist at Mass General. Dr. Kwak will have the scans read at Mass General, and Dr. Cody will have the scans read here. Then the two doctors will consult and make a joint decision on what comes next.
We do have plenty to keep us busy between now and then. We need to complete our Christmas shopping and continue checking off the boat jobs on the ‘Must Do Before We Head to Florida” list. Lynda and Lee, our partners in crime in this venture south, returned from a Thanksgiving visit in Portland, Oregon today. We invited them over for coffee in the morning to compare our ‘to do’ lists. Today we spent the late afternoon and evening at Patsy and Joe’s. I canned the turkey mineral broth that I made yesterday and cooked beans for dinner using the bone from the Thanksgiving ham. Now I just need to figure out what to do with all of that leftover stuffing.
