Day 51, Year 10: The Day After . . .
Date: Sunday, November 30, 2014
Weather: Sunny and Steadily Getting Warmer
Location: R Dock, Lightkeepers Marina, Little River, SC
Today was the day after . . . after family and friends went home. We were up very early and Ed and Lynne left just after 7 am. I spent my morning doing laundry and Mark made new covers for our fenders. We spent the early afternoon searching the web for an air purifier with the very best reviews and then in the late afternoon we went on a short shopping expedition. We bought a plastic storage bin that fits under the seat in our shower and we also bought an air purifier and some groceries. Moving our cleaning rags to the new storage bin under the shower seat freed up room under our bed in the aft cabin for all of the extra sheets and mattress pads that I washed and dried this morning. We aren’t expecting boat guests for a couple of months, so all of the v-berth bedding needed to be stored away. We returned to Windbird after the short shopping spree and then panic set in. We realized that today is the last day of November and in only fourteen days we will fly to Puerto Rico for the Christmas. Christmas! We have been so focused on celebrating Thanksgiving with family that we totally forgot about Christmas. And we need to be ready for the sail to Florida before we go to Puerto Rico as we will only have a couple of days to do fresh food shopping for the passage when we return. But we’ll make it. I had a great phone conversation with Heather tonight and sorted through the gift options for the Goldstones. I’m hoping to have a similar conversation with Justin tomorrow morning. So hopefully I’ll have Christmas under control in just a couple of days. Then we can focus on getting ready for the passage south. But I’m afraid there’s no time to kick back and relax. I had thought about doing absolutely nothing tomorrow, but I think that just won’t happen.
