Day 45, Year 10: Getting Ready for Turkey Day
Date: Monday, November 24, 2014
Weather: Overcast with Intermittent Rain, Daytime High in the low-70’s F
Location: R Dock, Lightkeepers Marina, Little River, SC

Mark and I spent the day at Patsy and Joe’s getting ready for Turkey Day and the days leading up to it. Mark also went with Joe to buy food for Helping Hands. This is an organization run by local churches to provide food, clothing, and financial resources for those in need in the community. Joe buys food to donate from the Little River United Methodist Church. Tomorrow family members start arriving. Dinner tomorrow night is for 11. Dinner on Wednesday night is for about 20 people and then the number goes up to 25 on Thanksgiving Day. Tomorrow morning will begin with Patsy and Joe taking Mark for his cancer treatment in Myrtle Beach. While he is getting the treatment, they will go on to Costco to do the last minute shopping there. I will drive to Wilmington which is about an hour north of here to do a little food shopping at Whole Foods and then pick up my niece Janet at the airport. When we all return home, two more nieces from Massachusetts should have arrived. And by dinner time, two nephews from West Virginia will join us. So the forces are gathering.

Mark got a text message today from Lee and Lynda. It included a photo attachment of Lynda’s new washing machine. A couple of days ago I asked Lynda what she was going to wash clothes in when we sail south. She said she was waiting for me to tell her how she should do this. My answer was to go buy a five gallon bucket. And so she did. Lynda and Lee are now the proud owners of an orange bucket—the world’s best washing machine.
