Day 41, Year 10: Back to Work
Date: Thursday, November 20, 2014
Weather: 30’s F Last Night, Low-70’s Today
Location: R Dock, Lightkeepers Marina, Little River, SC

Today it was back to work on the boat, but while I was thinking about jobs that need to be done, Mark was actually doing them. We have from now until we fly to Puerto Rico the middle of December to get everything done. When we return from PR, we will be sailing south almost immediately, so it really is time to check the jobs off that list. Since Lee and Lynda are planning on sailing south with us, they also have a huge list of things that need to be done. So Mark and Lee are working together. I don’t know if that makes things faster, but it is certainly more fun. Today they installed a new pump for the forward head in Windbird and then went to Sea Turtle to remove all of the canvas and take it to the shop. Lee and Lynda are having side and back curtains made for a total cockpit enclosure, so lots of zippers need to be added to the canvas they already have. Mark and Lee went shopping for security cables for our dinghies and they checked out the new wind generator that arrived for Sea Turtle. I did a little early morning research into telephone and Wifi use in the Bahamas, started cleaning out the aft deck locker that houses the chain and line for a second anchor as well as our dinghy gas tank, and then went food shopping with Patsy and Joe. While out, we also took Joe’s Ford Edge, the vehicle he has loaned us to use while we are here, to get an oil change at Jiffy Lube. We then went to the brand new Publix supermarket to check it out and buy the turkey for Thanksgiving dinner. When I got back to the boat, Mark was continuing the clean-out of the aft deck locker. That job will be continued tomorrow as it was the end of the day and time to go to Patsy and Joe’s for dinner. We had a great dinner and will continue with the work tomorrow morning.
