Day 38, Year 10: Visit to the Gaylord Opryland Hotel
Date: Monday, November 17, 2014
Weather: Snow!!!
Location: At Home with Janet and Monica in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee
As per the weather forecast, it was snowing when we woke up this morning. There were only flurries, but it was enough to cause rooftops, cars, and decks to be covered in a thin layer of white stuff.

Patsy, Mark, and I did a little exploring in the area after the snow stopped and then late this afternoon we drove to Nashville to see the holiday lights at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel. The lights inside and outside were beautiful, but the hotel is quite a gem without the added holiday decorations. It is both a resort and a convention center, and the hotel is the certainly the most impressive that I have certainly ever been in. Even a ‘river’ runs through it. The little man-made Delta River is literally filled with water from all over the world. There are waterfalls and tropical gardens and for the holidays, there are lights dripping from the top of the six-story high atrium. It ranks 29th in a list of the world’s largest hotels. It is huge and the number of tropical plants and trees in the atrium area is mind boggling. It is like being in a botanical garden fairyland. It’s just a little early to be getting into the holiday spirit, but that didn’t keep us from enjoying the beauty.

Early tomorrow morning we head back home. We’ve had a wonderful time here, despite the fact that it has been unseasonably cold. We are looking forward to the relatively warmer weather in the Carolinas.
