Day 35, Year 10: House Hunting for P&J
Date: Friday, November 14, 2014
Weather: Mostly Sunny, High in the 40’s, Low in the 20’s
Location: At Home with Janet and Monica in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee

Today we spent our time looking for housing possibilities for Patsy and Joe as they are investigating a move to the Nashville area. They are hoping to find a free-standing one-level condo, but those are few and far between. The going thing here is BIG two-story houses, but for those who have entered the post-70 years, stairs and big houses are not high on the priority list. Janet had done a little pre-looking and took us to an area called Lake Providence as our first stop. We toured three homes, but the very first one we looked at seemed absolutely perfect for Patsy and Joe in every way but one—the price tag. Actually the ‘advertised’ price we saw online was perfect, but when they met with a representative, they found out that the model we toured had almost $100,000 in upgrades, most of which you would not want to do without. The search continues, but it is difficult when you have already found the perfect home. Nothing else quite measures up. We’ll start working with a real estate agent tomorrow and maybe she’ll be able to find the ‘just right’ house for the ‘just right’ price.

We got to see a lot of the area around Mt. Juliet today and it is really pretty with rolling hills and lots of farms mixed in with busy shopping areas and fancy housing areas that are all the product of urban sprawl. Tomorrow morning we will take a break from house hunting to go with Janet to downtown Nashville for a little explore of that area. Then we’ll continue looking for that perfect house.
