Day 333, Year 10: Two Homes
Date: Tuesday, September 8, 2015
Weather: Sunny, Temp in the 80’s
Location: Back Home on Windbird, Quissett Harbor, Falmouth, MA
I guess you could say that Mark and I now have two homes—here in Quissett Harbor on Windbird and in Boston at the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge. I am back on Windbird and Mark is in Boston. For the next six weeks, we will spend part of each week separated, part together in Boston, and weekends here in Falmouth. On our first morning in Boston, it was early to rise and at Mass General before 7 am. Mark had the “dress rehearsal” for the radiation where they do a simulation to make sure they have everything aligned correctly and then he had the first radiation treatment. Afterwards he met with his radiation oncologist and then we went to sit and read in the Healing Garden. This is a beautiful, peaceful rooftop garden at Mass General that just begs you to come sit and meditate. We enjoyed the views of the Charles River and Boston, read, contemplated, and then went to an 11 am meeting with Mark’s regular oncologist. Mark explained all of the issues he is having and Dr. Kwak methodically wrote everything down. Like us, she is not sure why Mark is feeling so weak and having so much pain in his abdomen. She prescribed meds for every possibility and then suggested he start my just taking TUMS to see if that helps. If not, he will move up to the next level of meds.

I drove home this afternoon and went to see Sam, Jonah, and Ollie after their first day of school. Jonah recovered from his tummy bug and was able to go to school today. Hurray! After school all were in a jolly mood.

I spent some time visiting with Heather and then playing with the kids before returning to Windbird. Tomorrow will be a day in the storage unit. Can’t think of a more exciting activity!
