Day 33, Year 10: Headed to Nashville Tomorrow

Tomorrow we are headed to Nashville with Patsy and Joe. We are going to visit their daughter Janet and to check out the ‘neighborhood’. Patsy and Joe are considering a move there, so they want to look at housing possibilities. We’ll also try to take some time to enjoy the area. Nashville’s holiday season begins tomorrow when two-million Christmas lights are turned on at Gaylord Opryland Resort. Even though it seems early to be thinking about Christmas, we will definitely take in the sights at the Gaylord. We won’t be going to a show at the Grand Ole Opry, but we will definitely take a look from the outside. Then there is Andrew Jackson’s home, The Hermitage, and the Belle Meade Plantation. I think we will be looking at housing near The Hermitage, so hopefully we’ll get to take a peek at the seventh President’s home. There’s a botanical garden and Centennial Park in downtown Nashville with a full-scale replica of the Parthenon. We’ll definitely check that out. But we are going to have to battle the weather to do these things. It is going to be VERY cold in Nashville for the next few days. In fact, the whole eastern two-thirds of the country is going to be experiencing late December, not mid-November, temperatures. We might even have a little snow while we are there. We just finished packing and we have very little in the way of cold-weather clothing with us. We have no winter coats, but we do have light-weight polar fleece jackets and vests and our thin rain jackets. They work nicely to block the wind and these things combined with our thirty year-old wool sweaters from L.L. Bean will just have to do. We are definitely going for the layered look.
This morning I left Mark and Lee in parking lot at Lightkeepers. They had a long list of boat projects to tackle today. I went to Patsy’s to do more laundry, make a ton of granola, make a meatloaf in Joe’s breadmaker to take to Nashville with us, and to do some outside cleaning in the warm weather. I wanted to finish cleaning the blinds from the sunroom and to clean the deck chairs—things I didn’t get done a couple of weeks ago when we were painting the deck. Cleaning mildew spots off white blinds is soooo easy with the cleaner Joe brought home from Home Depot. It is called Jomax. You mix it with water and Clorox, spray it on with a garden sprayer, wait a few minutes, and rinse the item off. Presto! All of the mildew is gone without having to do any scrubbing or wiping. I love it.
We got a surprise Skype video call from Ziggy while we were still at Patsy and Joe’s this evening. He had control of the tablet (or computer, not sure which) and was showing us all kinds of things. Once in a while we got a glimpse of Coco, but this was definitely Ziggy’s call. We got to see Ziggy and Coco’s playroom with a wall that they have painted.
