Day 26, Year 10: Harbor Freight is Heaven
Date: Wednesday, November 5, 2014
Weather: Overcast and 70’s F
Location: R Dock, Lightkeepers Marina, Little River, SC
Mark left with Lee Kaufman this morning around 9:30 am to make a quick trip to West Marine. Three hours later he returned saying, “Harbor Freight is heaven.” Then I knew why the shopping trip took so long. After West Marine, they went to Harbor Freight. This is a discount hardware store that Lee and Lynda told us about and Mark loved it and he came home with a number of little helpful gadgets. Then they just had to stop at Home Depot, so I’ll call this a “shop ‘til you drop” kind of morning for the guys. In the afternoon, Mark spent the afternoon with Lee on Sea Turtle doing various odd jobs and then they went back out to Walmart. While they were shopping and doing boat chores, I was editing photos from our trip to Williamsburg this summer. I did the first three days of the trip immediately after we returned, but I am just now getting to the rest of the trip. I also talked to Geoff and Chris of Shambala and made plans to drive up to Beaufort, North Carolina, to visit with them on Saturday. We went to Patsy and Joe’s for dinner and made more travel plans. We are going to drive to Nashville, Tennessee, next Friday and spend a few days with my niece Janet (Patsy and Joe’s daughter). And when we return, it will be time to start getting ready for a big Thanksgiving the following week as we have lots of family and friends coming. The calendar is filling up!
I talked to Heather and Ollie this morning. Ollie had some sort of stomach bug over the weekend and Monday, but then went back to school yesterday. Heather and Jed both thought he was over whatever it was. But he was not and Heather was home with him today. Again, she thinks he is better, so let’s hope this time he is. He is a hungry bear and has been keeping down everything he eats, so he probably is okay this time. He was certainly feeling good enough to talk and talk and talk. He told me he saw a big digger this morning, and . . . (long pause) he saw a fire engine (in a book), and . . . (long pause) he saw a witch (on Halloween night), and . . . This went on and on. He has learned exactly how to keep Oma’s attention.
