Day 104, Year 10: Another Work Day
Date: Thursday, January 22, 2015
Weather: Once Again a Beautiful, Sunny Day; Temp in the Upper 70’s F
Location: Anchored in Lake Sylvia, Fort Lauderdale, FL

Other than the gorgeous weather and the positive progress being made in the installation of Sea Turtle’s new solar panels, there’s not much else to report today. Our morning started the same as yesterday with a mile dinghy ride up to Las Olas Marina where I dropped Mark off to work on Sea Turtle. I returned to Windbird and spent my day doing more stainless polishing and a few other boat chores. Every time we go to Las Olas, we take our jerry jugs and fill them with drinking water. We’re hoping to keep our water tanks full this way. The installation of the solar panels went smoothly today. The panels are securely in place and the wires are run into the bowels of the boat. Tomorrow those wires will be connected to the solar control panels and then on to the batteries. If all goes as planned, by the end of the day tomorrow Sea Turtle will have 535 watts of solar capacity. In theory, if there is sunny weather, they should never have to run their engine to charge their batteries. Yeah for solar power!

Tomorrow when I take Mark to Las Olas, I’m thinking about leaving the dinghy there for the day (a $20 charge) and using the local trolley and bus system to see some of the area. Lynda might go with me. The anchorage here at Lake Sylvia is fantastic, but the fact that there is no place to land your dinghy is a bit confining. So I’ll chance the $20 fee at Las Olas to spend the day ashore.
