Happy Thanksgiving from Puerto Rico. It was a sunny Thanksgiving Day here and we divided our day between cooking and having fun at the beach. I tried to get into the water with Justin’s help, but it was a no go. My back just could not handle the incoming waves, so I watched the fun from the beach. Later in the afternoon, Thanksgiving dinner was an absolute feast. Instead of turkey, we had Pernil which is Puerto Rican seasoned roast pork. It was so tender and delicious. Of course, there was gravy to go with the pork and mashed potatoes and stuffing. We also had fried sweet plantains that I think are called maduros, assorted greens, Mark’s cranberry salad., and Coco’s grain-free rolls. We ate on China that belonged to Mark’s great grandmother. Then for dessert we had an assortment of pies. Ziggy made his favorite, an apple pie, and Jo made pecan and pumpkin pies with whipped cream or ice cream. All delicious.

After dinner, I watched as everyone decorated the Christmas tree. Ziggy and Coco wanted to do this while I was here to share the experience. Now that Thanksgiving is over, I am looking forward to get a tree and decorate as well.

I fly out of Aguadilla (about thirty minutes from here) at 3:59 am, so Justin and I will get up and be out of here no later than 2 am. I really don’t know how I am going to negotiate the change of planes in Orlando since I cannot walk any distance without having excruciating pain, but I am still hoping for a miracle. And if that doesn’t happen, I will just have to request assistance. If all goes well, I will be back in Boston by noon tomorrow. Here’s hoping.
