Sometimes you get sucked into a book and you just can’t put it down. On my way home from North Carolina, I started reading a book recommended by Patsy Decker when I met her for breakfast on Sunday. She recommended it because it is partly about the Galapagos, and she knows how much I loved my time there. This is a Jodi Picoult book entitled Wish You Were Here. I say it is partly about the Galapagos because it is also about Covid and about relationships. It was just so much fun to relive Isabela Island in the Galapagos through someone else’s experiences. Last night I got to a point in the book where I really didn’t want to stop reading, but I forced myself to put the book down and go to bed. Then today I made a trip to the laundromat which gave me an excuse to start reading again. When I got home from the laundromat, I put the cleaning aside and just kept read. I finally got to a point where the book took an unexpected turn, and I was able to put it down. But it was too late in the day to do all the cleaning I had planned. You make plans and then life happens. Detta will just have to overlook the dirt. But at least she’ll have clean sheets!
