2022 Life Logs, Day 233: Tomato Sauce Mismatch
Date: Sunday, August 21, 2022
Weather: Another Sunny Day; High 81, Low 66 degrees
Location: At Home in the Cottage, East Falmouth, MA

I had planned to can marinara and pizza sauce today, but we ran into a little mismatch problem. I made the marinara sauce, but it ended up thicker and sweeter tasting, more like pizza sauce. Heather made the pizza sauce, but it ended up thinner with a stronger herbal taste, more like marinara sauce. Heather had decided to make pizza for dinner tonight, so I postponed the canning until I hear the results of tonight’s taste test. They will vote on which is to be the pizza sauce after the taste test. Then I will start canning as the pizza sauce is processed in smaller jars than the pasta sauce.

Otherwise, it was a quiet day for me. Tomorrow Jonah, Ollie, and maybe Sam will come here for the day. My neighbors from New York, the Dearman’s, arrived yesterday. Their kids and the Goldpebbles love to play together. Charlie, who is Jonah’s age, has three friends with him. That means there are four 13 year-old boys already in the one house. I am not sure adding two or three more boys to the group is a good idea, but we’ll give it a try.
