2021 Life Logs, Day 201: High Flyers
Date: Tuesday, July 20, 2021
Weather: Partly Sunny; High Temp 84, Low 69 degrees F
Location: At Home in The Cottage, East Falmouth, MA

My day started watching Jeff Bezos blast into outer space aboard New Shepard, Blue Origin’s first launch with citizen astronauts aboard. High flyers they were.
Then this afternoon Ollie, Jonah, and I went to a public library event called High Flying Dogs where dogs caught high flying frisbees. The trainer was so pleased that his dogs could run 35 miles an hour. He used a radar gun to record their speed. If those dogs were running 35 miles an hour, I’d say Shadow’s average speed is closer to 40 to 45 miles per hour. He is the fastest dog I have ever seen. I need to train him to catch a frisbee and go on the road.

Before the dog show, we had lunch on the library lawn, Jonah and Ollie played catch, and we walked across Main Street to buy pastries at the French bakery. Playing catch reminded the boys that they both need new baseball mitts, so we made a side trip to Walmart but came up empty. So, we bought socks and underwear instead! Then it was back downtown for the dog show. After the show, we went back to their house long enough to play a few rounds of trampoline soccer with Sam and then headed to my house to play croquet and table shuffleboard. Sam had a doctor appointment mid afternoon and was going to the County Fair with friends at 5 pm, so he only had a small window of time to spend with us. Thunderstorms are forecast for tomorrow afternoon, so we’ll probably have to do rainy day activities. We shall see.
