2017 Life Logs, Day 6: Snow with More on the Way
Date: Friday, January 6, 2017
Weather: Snow Early, Sunny Afternoon; High 34, Low 22 degrees F
Location: At Home in The Studio, Falmouth, MA
It snowed last night and this morning to the tune of about 3 inches here on the harbor. But sometime between 10 and 11 am, the snow stopped and the sun came out. The snow is supposed to resume tomorrow morning and continue into Sunday. They are predicting anywhere from 6 to 12 to 18 inches, so we shall wait and see. It already looks like a winter wonderland, so tomorrow’s snow will only add to that. But the wonderland will be short-lived. By Wednesday of next week the temps will be back in the 50’s, so all the snow will melt and we will wait for the next winter storm.
I got word last night that Heather was hit with a killer cold. Jed has it, too, and all three boys have some level of upper-respiratory yuck. So far, I’ve resisted, but I know my time is coming. But today I decided to fix dinner for the Goldstones while I’m healthy and they are not. I had started prepping the chickens to roast mid-afternoon when Heather showed up at my door. It was an unexpected visit, but so delightful. She is so busy that I rarely get to talk to her, so we talked fast to get in as much visiting as possible before she had to go pick up Sam and Jonah. I was the recipient of her rare visit because she had gone to work and left early because she felt so bad. She was delighted to hear that I was going to deliver dinner, and I was delighted to be able to do that.
I spent most of my day working on the presentation I will be making at the Newcomers meeting on Thursday and I spent most of my evening figuring out travel plans for the next few months. While Heather was here this afternoon I was able to find out the dates when it would be helpful for me to be here to help out. So using that information, this evening I have come up with a tentative plan. I want to return to Nashville to visit with my sister and brother-in-law and I want to go to Puerto Rico to visit with Justin and family. And before I know, it will be summer again. Time flies when you’re having a good time!
