2017 Life Logs, Day 70: Back Home to Very Cold Weather
Date: Saturday, March 11, 2017
Weather: Snow in Nashville, Cold and Windy on Cape Cod; High 23, Low 11 degrees F
Location: Back Home at The Studio, Falmouth, MA

I flew to Puerto Rico on February 6, stayed there two weeks and flew home for five days. Then I flew to Nashville for two weeks and returned home today to VERY cold weather. If I thought that by spending a month in warmer country I would avoid the coldest New England weather of the winter, I was wrong. I think tonight might be the coldest of this season, especially with the wind chill factored in. But even with the extreme cold, it is good to be home. The flight home went smoothly. The only hitch was the snow in Mt. Juliet this morning. When I got up this morning and opened the blinds, I was shocked to see that it was snowing. Snow was expected, but not until much later in the day. The snow prompted us to get ready to head to the airport as soon as possible just in case there were problems on the road. Patsy and I scurried around to get photos of some of the projects we completed while I was there–the placemats in the dining room and the new photo display in the living room. Then we took off for the airport. The temperature was just above freezing, however, keeping the road clear. So Patsy and Joe were still able to drive me to the airport. I took a photo out the window as I walked to the gate for my flight. It just looked like a white blurr. But by the time I made a couple of stops and then got to the gate, there was no trace of snow. Jed flew out of Logan this morning, so he drove my car to the airport. When I arrived, I just walked to my car and drove home. Good timing.

I made a quick stop to see Heather and boys before heading home for the night. It was great to see them and we made plans for a belated birthday party for me tomorrow evening. It could have been tonight, but Ollie insisted that we needed a cake and that required waiting until tomorrow.
