Day 74, Year 8: Trip to Wilmington
Date: Wednesday, January 16, 2013
Weather: Beautiful Day, High Temp in the 70’s F
Location: Lightkeepers Marina in Coquina Harbor, Little River, SC

We went to Wilmington today with Patsy and Joe. The purpose of our trip was so I could get my picture and fingerprints taken by Customs to complete our Small Vessel permit and for Patsy and Joe to do some shopping for their grandkids. The Small Vessel permit allows us to leave and reenter the US with just a phone call, so Customs want to be sure that the people they are readmitting into the country have no criminal record. The application has been a bit of a pain since we misread the information and have had to make two trips, but it is now done. At least something is done! We visited Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s while in Wilmington. In fact, we had lunch at Whole Foods. Mark and Joe visited the Honda dealership there while Patsy and I went to Trader Joe’s. And while I was at the airport visiting Customs, Patsy, Joe, and Mark went to Best Buy and bought ‘things’ that Jacob and Jessica (Patsy and Joe’s grandchildren) needed. Both Jacob and Jessica are settling into life as students at the Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington and since it is the first time either of them have lived away from home, there are always more things they need. Eventually they will settle in and hopefully then Patsy and Joe won’t have to make so many trips there. But, then, I know they enjoy going and helping out. It is exciting to see your grandchildren making that transition from home to college and it is great that Patsy and Joe are close and can help out. We stayed at Patsy and Joe’s for dinner and just got home. So it is late and time to shut down until tomorrow.
