Day 257, Year 6 Sandcastles and Dragons
Date: Friday, July 8, 2011
Weather: Overcast and Foggy with Rain; Temps in the Lower 70’s
Location: Eel Pond, Woods Hole, Massachusetts
Jonah, Sam, and I went to a Sand Sculpting Festival this afternoon where we watched two artisans creating mega-masterpieces in sand. A man was building an intricate arrangement of sand castles and a woman was sculpting a relief of a flying dragon. Sam and Jonah built their own masterpieces in the kids play area and I watched and enjoyed the live music. Earlier I had picked the boys up at summer camp, doing it without either Heather or Jed there as back-up, and it went very smoothly. Jonah asked where his momma was and when I told him she was at work, he never said another word. After camp and before going to the Sand Sculpting Festival, it was nap time. Heather came home early and was there when Jonah woke up, so we still have that hurdle next week.
Mark worked today and my morning was a hodge-podge of running errands, trying unsuccessfully to replace a broken side mirror on the car with a Mylar replacement, and doing a little work on the website. Mark works again tomorrow and I am going to stay on Windbird and dedicate my whole day to website updates and photo editing. If the weather clears, we might go out for a sail on Sunday. It is so calm in this pond that we fear we will lose our sea-legs if we don’t get out there.
