Day 48, Year 10: Giving Thanks
Date: Thursday, November 27, 2014
Weather: Sunny, Windy, and Cool; Daytime High in the 50’s F
Location: R Dock, Lightkeepers Marina, Little River, SC

Here’s hoping your day of giving thanks was as nice as ours. We gathered at my sister Patsy’s early this morning so Kevin could get the turkey in the oven. He volunteered, or more correctly I should say Claire volunteered him, to be in charge of the turkey today. He did a great job, with Claire’s assistance, and I learned a new way to cook the bird resulting in a very moist, delicious turkey.

We took turns in the kitchen today which gave everyone a chance to take some time to relax and visit. Mark and I talked to Heather, Jed, Sam, Jonah, and Ollie after they arrived in Cambridge to have Thanksgiving dinner with Jed’s family. Jonah was busy making Thanksgiving Day thank you cards and Sam was making little Mayflower place cards. He was so pleased to show Granddad that the paper ship sails could actually rotate so they could tack.

And Ollie was happily playing with a trash truck and showing off his sweater vest. A little later we talked to Justin, Jo, Ziggy, and Coco. It was warm and sunny in western Puerto Rico and Coco showed us their garden while Ziggy showed us the puppies they found in a plastic bag alongside the road. They saved the puppies and are actively looking for good homes for them. And finally we talked to Linda and Mike Stuart, our friends that are currently biking south through Florida. We are so thankful that we could be together with family and friends today whether it was in person or through the miracle of modern technology.
