2018 Life Logs, Day 200—More Fun with the Grandkids

We spent another glorious day just hanging out on the dock, taking turns paddling about in the kayaks, playing in the basement, and taking a mid-afternoon trip to the Farmers Market on Falmouth Harbor and playing at the Falmouth Village Science Playground downtown. Jonah, Ollie, and I started the day by going to swim lessons at Menauhant. After years of reluctance about putting his head in the water, Jonah is diving in and having a great time swimming. Today he got to ride on the Big Banana which is the life guard’s rescue board. Ollie is also loving swim lessons. He spends much of his time underwater or with face in the water swimming as fast as he can. Great to see!

When we got home, Sam, Ziggy, and Coco were already on the dock. The Fab 5 spent the rest of the morning paddling about. At first Ollie and Coco rode together in the two-man kayak, but then they decided to explore separately. The big boys escaped the dock and found playing in the basement great fun. Coco and Ollie joined them and Sam set up the basement so everyone had their own desk and lighting so they could each read. But after lunch, Jo and I headed to downtown Falmouth with the five kids. I wanted to go to the Farmers Market and Jo wanted to check out the Art Market next door. And we couldn’t be that close the harbor without going down on the dock to explore. Then the kids all wanted to go to a vintage 50’s store downtown to get ‘vintage’ candy. Jo and I did our best to limit the candy purchase and then we all walked to the Falmouth Village Science Playground. The big boys were so busy I couldn’t catch a photo of them, but Coco and Ollie decided to do some wall climbing which gave me a chance to capture their expertise. It is truly wonderful to watch the five cousins playing and exploring together.
