Life is certainly changed by having a young puppy, but changed in a delightful way.  Shadow continues to be a star pupil.  When I take him outside to go potty, he goes instantly for which he gets lavish praise and treats.  He slept through the night, but only until 5:45 am.  That was a full six hours, not enough sleep for me, but still I was so very pleased that I didn’t have to get up with him in the middle of the night.  We stayed up and played until 7:30 and then we went back to sleep and didn’t get up until 10:30!  I really needed to go out and do some puppy shopping today, but I decided that since I was going to Mah Jongg class tonight that I would stay home all day with Shadow.  I put him in the crate while I took a shower.  He was unhappy about that at first, but finally stopped whining.  At 4:30, I packed up Shadow’s puppy bag with treats and dinner and put him in his crate with his toys and chews and took him over to Heather and Jed’s.  Heather had meetings all afternoon and evening and Jed needed help delivering Ollie to Scouts.  He had to take Jonah downtown with his Scout troop to lead the Pledge of Allegiance for the opening of a town meeting.  They had to leave by 5:15, so I took Shadow over a little early so Jonah would get to play with him for a few minutes before he left.  The boys truly enjoy Shadow and he enjoys them.  It is a winning combination.  After delivering Ollie to his Scout meeting, I took Shadow home and I then went to my Mah Jongg class.  This meant leaving the puppy alone in his crate for three hours, but he seemed to be just fine when I got home.  I have played with him since getting home and will not head to bed with him so we can hopefully repeat last night’s 11:45 pm to 5:45 am sleep through the night.  So far, I am elated with Shadow’s adjustment to his new life with me.
