2018 Life Logs, Day 114—Making Progress
Date: Tuesday, April 24, 2018
Weather: One More Beautiful Day; High Temp 58, Low 46 degrees F
Location: At Home in The Studio, Falmouth, MA

Step by step, I am making progress in getting the cottage ready to move into and in packing up things here. It is s-l-o-w, but it is happening. When I left the cottage this evening, I moved everything out of the living, dining, kitchen, and hallway spaces so that tomorrow I can apply a sealant on the flooring. I will put on the first coat tomorrow evening when I return from taking friend Jane Woodin north towards Boston for a back ablation. This is an in and out procedure and we should be home no later than 5 pm which gives me plenty of time to apply the sealant. If the floor needs a second coat, that will happen Thursday morning, and then I will spend the remainder of the day packing.

Detta and I made a good dent in packing, but there is still plenty left to do. I have run out of boxes, so I am going to have to purchase boxes on Thursday. I also meet with Shirley Wiedemann, the owner of the cottage, on Thursday afternoon to sign the lease. She has to come to Falmouth for a doctor appointment and will meet me at the cottage before heading back to Scituate. But in between all that, I will pack, pack, pack.

I truly enjoyed having Detta visit and so much appreciate all the work she did. I am so grateful for the friendship we share. She gave me a card with the perfect words, “Friends are the family you choose with your heart.” I am so grateful that we chose each other and I feel blessed to have Detta, and so many other good friends.
