2017 Life Logs, Day 234: Arrival at Ed and Lynne’s in Nyack
Date: Tuesday, August 22, 2017
Weather: Mostly Sunny; High 90, Low 72 degrees F
Location: At Home with Ed and Lynne Kirwin in Nyack, NY

It is so good to be here! I had a good trip from the Cape to Nyack. It took an hour longer than Google Maps predicted due to heavy traffic in a couple of places, but that is to be expected in the summer months. For those of you who don’t know, Nyack is on the west bank of the Hudson River. The exit is immediately after you cross the Tappen Zee Bridge and by 1 pm, I was here with good friends Ed and Lynne. It has been eleven months since we last saw each other, so there is a lot of catching up to do. Ed and Lynne both look healthy and happy and are elated that Ed doesn’t have to have another chemo treatment until mid to late October. I didn’t take any photos today, but I’ll do that tomorrow. This afternoon, Lynne and I went to see Dunkirk with a couple of her friends from the soup kitchen. Ed and Lynne, and a whole slew of wonderful volunteers, work each week to provide meals for the needy, and it was nice to meet a couple of the volunteers. And I think we all enjoyed the movie. Well, ‘enjoyed’ is probably not the right word to use for a war movie, as they are always harrowing to watch. But this one was skillfully crafted to show the resilience of the British. More than 330,000 French, Dutch, and British soldiers were rescued by personal small craft that dared to cross the Channel to pick them up. After the movie, we came home and I sat and watched while Lynne skillfully crafted a great dinner. We had oven-roasted cauliflower, asparagus, and wild King salmon with a salad. Yummy!
