Weather: Overcast and Rainy; High 75, Low 72 degrees F
Location: At Home in The Studio, Falmouth, MA

Tonight was the Newcomers Dine-in Club gathering at Terry and Olivia White’s home. They prepared a wonderful Indian dinner that was enjoyed by all. Olivia put on an Indian feast that was as delightful to the eye as it was to the palate. I especially enjoyed her beautifully decorated raita. Newcomers is a large organization with many smaller club opportunities. I was invited to join the Dine-in Club which is now four couples plus me. Each month a different member invites the other members into their home for dinner, thus the name ‘dine-in’. Next month we will dine-in here at The Studio. I’ve never been much of a club joiner, but this is a really great group of people that I am enjoying spending time with.

My day started with a bike ride with Jane and then I spent the afternoon processing tomatoes to make marinara sauce. Summer before last we processed over 90 pounds of organic tomatoes. We canned enough sauce that summer that we didn’t do much last year. This marinara sauce is a staple for the Goldstones and the cupboard is bare. When I went to the Farmers’ Market yesterday, I bought the first installment of locally grown organic tomatoes. This first 9 pounds are now in the refrigerator as uncooked sauce that I will process and can this weekend. Carrie from Peach Tree Farm didn’t think she would have another batch for two weeks. So, I now know what I’ll be doing over the Labor Day Weekend.

Heather and gang had to pull up roots from the beautiful location where they have been staying the past few days. The moved on to the city of Gothenberg. They will be there for a few days before making their final move to Stockholm. Yesterday Heather and boys visited Nordens Ark where they saw the world’s largest cat and the world’s largest owl. Heather got great photos showing the relative size of the boys’ ‘wings’ as compared to the owl.
